Palangkarya (Antara Kalteng) - The Election supervisory committee (Panwaslu) in the Central Kalimantan provincial city of Palangkaraya had asked campaigners of all political parties to avoid black campaigns.

"I have asked the campaigners from all 12 political parties in the April 9 legislative elections to avoid black campaigns, or to instigate the people to support them," local Panwaslu chairman Barombon said here on Thursday.

He pointed out that political speech that vilifies and slanders other parties in an attempt to win people`s sympathy is part of black campaigns.

"Campaigners who conduct black campaigns are breaking the rules of campaigning, and consequently they have to face legal sanctions," Barombon asserted.

According to him, black campaigns will destroy the order and purpose of democracy in honest, fair and corruption-free elections.
